Obituary:

James Donald MacWilliam, Jr. passed away on the 14th of January 2012, in Houston, from complications following open heart surgery. His memory will be cherished by his wife; Karen, and his children, Catherine Gaillard Brown (Philip), James Donald III (Paula), Payson Lord (Kelley), Walker Gunn and Christopher Grant. He is also survived by stepsons, Craig Thomas Carnish (Karen) and Keith Michael Carnish (Erin); and sister, Anne Dilley (Newt); as well as 10 grandchildren and numerable nieces and nephews.

Jim was born to James Donald MacWilliam and Virginia Payson MacWilliam on December 8, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. A second generation Princeton graduate (Class of ’54), Jim competed on the university’s wrestling team and participated in the Buster Lewis Society. Chairing his alma mater’s Houston-based schools committee for five decades, Jim took exceptional pride in the significant number of students whom he helped join the Princeton family.

In his early years, Jim served as a Navy flight instructor in Florida, but fell in love with Texas during flight training in Kingsville. He went on to build his career in Houston by founding the commercial insurance firm, Essary, Hart, and MacWilliam in 1971. His work continued at Insurance Concepts which later became Bancorp South. Jim’s gift for building his business went hand-in-hand with this talent for turning clients into life-long friends. His extensive volunteerism extended to coaching baseball at Sharpstown High School and working as chairman of the non-profit Cancer Counseling, Inc. Jim personally overcame three different forms of cancer in his 79 years.

Above all, Jim will be remembered for his optimistic attitude and contagious smile. A regular golfer at Sugar Creek Country Club, Jim will be missed on the course and at Happy Hour. A favorite recollection of the noted storyteller was that he “”shot his age”" on the 4th of July 2011. “”Inside the loop”" friends remember him sitting at the piano bar, as well as going dancing with his beloved wife, Karen.

The memorial service is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 20th of January, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Martin J. Bastian, Senior Associate Rector for Pastoral Care, and the Rev. Aaron M. G. Zimmerman, Associate Pastor for Outreach and Family and Young Adult Ministries, are to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.
Princeton graduates are invited and encouraged to wear their school jackets.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Ste. 300, Jacksonville, FL, 32256; or The American Cancer Society , 6301 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX, 77057.

George passed surrounded by his loving family on November 26, 2011. His wife Natalia and his children, George and Isabel Saldivar and Cynthia Ramirez, survive him as well as his grandchildren Mary Livas, Isaac Deleon, Michelle, Josephine, Sonia, and Selena Ramirez and three great-grandchildren Damian and Alyssa Livas and Delia Gonzalez. He also leaves behind a large stepfamily. He was a proud Veteran of The United States Army. PFC MICHAEL TRAVIS PRING , of Ft. Lewis, Washington, formerly of La Porte, Texas, died on November 18, 2011. He was born on April 29, 1986 to Travis and Pam Pring. One of six children, he had one child, Travis Michael Pring, born on August 8, 2008 to Michael and Mallory Pring.

Michael leaves behind his son, “Little Travis”, His mother and father, Pam and Travis Pring; brothers Dean Williamson (wife Bridget), Freddie Allen and Daniel Pring (wife Ashley); sisters Amy White (husband David) and Kelly Montemayor; Grandparents Wendell and Marilyn Sweet, and Lyn Mitchell. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will all miss him terribly.

His beloved grandparents, Richard and Norma Lee Pring preceded him in death.
Michael graduated from La Porte High School in 2004 and joined the U.S. Army in 2010.
Ask anyone about Michael and the first thing they will do is laugh. That was his gift. He made us laugh, sometimes in the most inappropriate situations. He could make anyone smile. Michael just never realized his own value to his family and friends.
Michael’s greatest love was his son, Travis.

Michael also loved music. He played percussion and guitar and loved being a member of the band ” Dedman Sinclair”.
Other things that defined Michael were his tattoos, his Adidas clothes (!), his various ball caps, his phone, and his love of junk food.
Michael struggled with emotional highs and lows and a sadness that nobody or nothing could quite pull him out of. His time in the Army was a new beginning. When he wore his uniform, he stood taller and prouder than ever. He was so proud to serve his country, and he was looking forward to a future that would make his son proud.

Michael was a father, son, grandson, soldier, brother, nephew, cousin, and uncle. He will always be loved, always be missed, and always be remembered with a smile.

A visitation with the family will begin today from 2-6pm in the Compean Main Chapel. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, November 28, at 10am in the Main Chapel. Interment will follow in Houston National Cemetery.

Henry (Marvin) Marquis was born December 21, 1931 in Yazoo City, MS and passed away October 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife Mary H. Marquis; children, Terry Houston, Melanie Colmanares and husband Jesus, Jerry Marquis, and Stepdaughter Alicia Scala and husband Ed; grandchildren, Eddie Scala, Brittany Colmanares and Christian Colmanares. Other survivors include three sisters, Bobby Everett, Luzelle Martin and husband Vernon, Nell Perew as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, loyal former employees, and many friends. Marvin was a veteran of the Naval Forces and retired from the successful business he started over 30 years ago, Pump Energy, Inc. Ruben R. Gutierrez, 70, was born on Feb.8.1941 in Palacios,TX & was called home to be with his “Lord & Savior” on Oct. 6, 2011. Ruben was a proud Veteran of the U.S.Army serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a talented Musician of many years that played the trumpet with various Tejano bands. Survivors include his Wife, of 43 yrs., Mary C. Gutierrez; Daughter, April Ann Pallanez (Richard); Sons, Rodney, Ruben Jr. (Mary) & Frank (Ashley) Gutierrez; Sisters, Susie Rios & Yolanda Jimenez; Brothers, Oscar & Leonard Gutierrez; Grandchilderen, Richard, Robert, Jorden, Jayden, Aries & Alexandra. Visitation will begin on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 from 1-9 pm @ Compean Main Chapel, with a Prayer Service @ 7 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted @ Crossroads Fellowship Church @ 11 am on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, with Pastor Mike Allard officiating. Interment will follow in the Houston National Cemetery where Mr. Gutierrez will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors.
