Obituary
Henry (Marvin) Marquis was born December 21, 1931 in Yazoo City, MS and passed away October 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife Mary H. Marquis; children, Terry Houston, Melanie Colmanares and husband Jesus, Jerry Marquis, and Stepdaughter Alicia Scala and husband Ed; grandchildren, Eddie Scala, Brittany Colmanares and Christian Colmanares. Other survivors include three sisters, Bobby Everett, Luzelle Martin and husband Vernon, Nell Perew as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, loyal former employees, and many friends. Marvin was a veteran of the Naval Forces and retired from the successful business he started over 30 years ago, Pump Energy, Inc. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to Houston Area Parkinson’s Society 2700 Southwest Frwy Houston TX 77038 and/or the Inpatient Unit at Houston Hospice 1905 Holcombe Blvd Houston TX 77030.

Funeral Service:
Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 11am followed by a reception.

To you, Mary, and Marvin’s sister’s and Children:
My deepest sympathy are with you at this time. Marvin and I shared many memories together, from High School, to the Navy. We went through boot camp together at Great Lakes, IL, then assigned to the U.S.S. Corregidor, CVE 58. After the Corregidor, I went to Naval Communication Unit #4, inTripoli, Lybia. Marvin left shortly afterwards for Eritrea, Africa, at the southern end of the Suez Canal. We continued to communicate by radio and electronic mail, until I was discharged in September 1953. Marvin’s departure from the Navy came shortly afterwards. Our lives took different paths. I last saw Marvin about 1959, when he came to Jackson, MS. He called me, and then met me in my office in the west wing of the State Capitol. We went to lunch together. When we parted he stated he thought he was going to go to Houston. I never saw him again. After learning he was in Houston, I called him several times, but never made contact. I moved to Texas in 1961 and tried to contact him a few times afterwards, but without success. From my childhood days in Yazoo City to our tour with the Navy that took us throughout Europe and to Japan, Marvin”s and my life were closely intertwined. We shared many wonderful times together and I regret deeply that we could never get together again. He will always live in my heart, the way he lived when we were so very, very close. He has to be one of the”Most Unforgettable People” I have ever known. God be with you all, in your loss. Paul
